Although they have been sourcing tobacco from the Dominican Republic for many years, CAO Mortal Coil is their first venture into andullo—a rare, centuries-old method in which cured tobacco is tightly fermented within palm pods known as “yaguas.” This distinctive process yields a dark, leathery tobacco featuring a bold yet sweet flavor. They have combined this rich leaf with fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua, wrapped it in robust USA Broadleaf, and finished it with an American Shade binder, resulting in a medium-bodied cigar that presents notes of earth, cocoa, dark cherry, and nuts. It pairs well with port, cognac, or espresso.
