This latest addition to the Jose L. Piedra range is a strikingly modern Havana shape. It is 4 ¾” (120mm) x 48 ring gauge, a size is known as a Hermoso Especial within the factories of Cuba and is a size first seen in Cuba in 2017 with the release of the Limited Edition Punch Regios de Punch.
It is also very close to the dimensions of the ever popular Robusto shape, 4 ⅞” (124mm) x 50, and by far the widest ring gauge of any cigar within the Jose L. Piedra portfolio.
Jose Lamadrid Piedra, a Spaniard by birth, established the brand in the 1880’s and by the end of the 19th Century had built it into one of the most famous Cuban brands outside of Havana.
Today the brand is remarkable within the Habanos portfolio as it sources all of the filler leaves used to create the blend from the Remedios tobacco growing region of Cuba. This provides the cigars with a distinct, robust, medium to full bodied smoke full of rustic appeal.
The brand is also unusual in that it employs the Tripa Corta Totalmente a Mano – short filler totally handmade – technique in making all of its cigars.
